The Dead Frequencies

The dead frequencies are a snapshot of artificial intelligences (AI) interpretation, by Dalle mini, of humanities most driving fear, death. Images were produced by AI at a resolution of 256 x 256 pixels. All images were upscaled to 1024 x 1024 with another AI software designed for image restoration, jpgHD. The final 200 pieces were rendered in Blender with animated effects from 8345 x 8345 to 11000 x 11000-pixel resolution in jpeg format (4 – 8 MB).

AI derived imagery references published online images which can contain illegal or graphic context. Several strict filters are utilized by this type of software to allow public use of this technology, in an ethical way. A single prompt of “violent death” was typed over 200 times to generate each image. Strict filters resulted in often simplistic and visceral imagery of AI’s interpretation of the human experience of death, and the fear of death.
